Inspiration – Spring

Warmer weather, clearer skies and the promise of summer. Spring is exciting. It can inspire us to take better care of our bodies, eat well and exercise more.

Having been so caught up in trying to stay warm, spring gives you the chance to ditch the coat and thick stockings and add a bit of flair to your day. A fragrant flower in your hair, a bit of pink lipstick or a spritz of floral perfume can brighten your day and your look. So, why not add a dash of spring to your day tomorrow? You’d be surprised by the difference a subtle change can make!

To give you a bit of a head start, I’ll be reviewing some of my all time favourite ‘spring inspired’ products over the next few days. Starting with a lovely floral fragrance inspired by the Cherry Blossoms found in Provence. This little pick-me-up is sure to brighten your day!

The cherry tree is beautiful in and of itself, but it’s blossoms also produce a lovely, sweet scent and Loccitane’s ‘Cherry Blossom’ fragrance captures this perfectly. I have always been drawn to this fragrance- having used it since I was 16, it evokes strong memories of spring. It’s my go-to perfume when I want to impress, but not overpower. And that’s what I love about Cherry Blossom- it’s light, sweet and warm without being overpowering in any way.

Perfect for day wear, Cherry Blossom is never going to send the person next to you on the train into a sneezing fit. It’s delicate, yet lingering bouquet still has that ‘wow’ factor despite its subtlety. It just smells so damn good!

I love experimenting with other heavier fragrances, but always find myself coming back to my beloved Cherry Blossom. A lot of designer fragrances smell great, but have this underlying ‘manufactured’ quality to them. There are so many ‘notes’ to pick up that there is no one distinct character. The perfume just ends up smelling like…well, perfume. This perfume smells like Cherry Blossom, it is coherent and uncomplicated-delicate and alluring.

Loccitane’s philosophy has always been that nothing compares to high-quality, natural ingredients. Their fragrances are inspired and thoughtful, always drawing from the beauty of nature (like their ‘Magnolia’ Eau de Toilette). While I find their skincare is a little expensive at times, you cannot deny the effectiveness and quality of their products. Loccitane use organic, natural alternatives wherever possible and tolerance-test their lines. You are also buying ethically if you choose Loccitane, they vow to never source ingredients from over-cultivated land (check out their sustainable ingredients policy at

While their skincare is too expensive for my liking, I do understand that you are paying for quality ingredients that have been sourced ethically. Luckily, Loccitanes range of fragrances are very reasonably priced when compared to equivalent products on the market. At $70 for 100ml, it’s a great buy.

Key Notes:

Top Note of: Cherry and Freesia;
Middle Note of: Cherry Blossom and Lily of the valley; and
Base Note of: Amber and Musk.

The Eau de Toilette is available in 50ml&100ml sizes, or you can purchase a convenient 10ml solid perfume (which is great for your handbag). Either way, this scent is absolutely delightful. It’s sweetness and warm base notes are incredibly inviting. A little spritz of this on each of your pulse points in the morning, and you’ll be reminded  of spring all day (no matter what season it is)!
